THE POST OFFICE

Another Day

Another Day another post. It's been some time since I last dropped my hat in the world of html and I know I'm a bit rusty. the good news is that rust can be buffed out. just needs some effort. I can't imagine I've seen much activity on the site, and that's fine. I don't really need people to come here. it's really just for myself. But on the off chance you, the reader, are here. Welcome. I'm glad to have you. If you read my writings and have some suggestions, well... You'd be hard press to find a way to tell me. as soon as I figure out a dropbox I'll consider it. But in the meantime please enjoy the writings of a Goober.

So for the last couple of months or so I've begun my transition from one city back to my hometown. I've failed to find new work to pay bills so I've been blessed by my partents to return home. This is but one step to the next but at the same time the path is hidden in fog. I know my skill set well, and I'm proud of it. But I'm also aware that it is a niche skill. Geographic Information Systems, or GIS, is both simple and complex. Simple in that I can tell folks I make maps for a living. Complex in that the data you can get and how it can be used to create so many different things. The questions you can answer with it. the Hypothesis you can deduce from the lines drawn with nunmbers and data. But I also feel as if I only scratched the surface. So that doubt holds me back when I apply for new roles. It isn't that I don't Think I could learn, but rather I want to give would-be employers an 'honest' self evaluation. I've only scratched the surface. If they asked "How would you rate your ability to learn" I'd give a 10/10. But that isn't what they're asking me. They never ask me about my potential. only what I bring as I am now. I bring a lot. I know I do, but it is hardly the very thing they're looking for. Or that was what I assumed. The tide shifted and now I'm going to tell them what they want to hear. I hurts me to say it but I've employed AI to assist me in constructing resumes better fitted for roles I'm applying for. and I'm applying more. I'm trying to get my foot into a new industry. I'd love to be in environmental work, it's what my major was back in the day. so I'm certain I can get one solid break. I'm not giving up on what i've worked towards in the past.
